Fiber Alchemy: Transforming Threads into Treasures

Welcome to Fiber Alchemy! I'm Kata, the hands and heart behind every piece you see here.

Each product in my shop is meticulously handwoven by me with great care and passion. My journey into handweaving began with a deep admiration for the carpets my grandparents brought home from Turkey. They lived there from the 1920s until the outbreak of World War II, when they returned home, bringing with them exquisite hand-knotted carpets that sparked my lifelong fascination with weaving.

My weaving journey truly began when I was at home with my toddler. I enrolled in an industrial arts workshop where I fell in love with contemporary linen weaving. The intricate design process and the transformation of unruly threads into something beautiful captivated me.

To deepen my knowledge, I pursued a two-year traditional weaving school, and I am now a certified folk craftsman: a weaver. I firmly believe that Hungarian folk motifs, traditional patterns, and techniques can be beautifully integrated into modern fashion and home décor through weaving.

Please take your time to explore my shop. All of my handwoven textiles are crafted using hand-dyed yarns on my 8-shaft floor loom, ensuring both quality and artistry. I use only the finest natural fibers, including silk, merino, camel hair, alpaca, linen, and cotton.

Thank you for visiting my store. I hope you find something that speaks to you, whether as a gift for a loved one or as a special treat for yourself.
